Oh, this is too rich. @RobertKennedyJr made his first splash as an antivaxer in 2005 in @Salon and @RollingStone by claiming that it was the mercury in the thimerosal preservative that was the cause of the "autism epidemic." No mention of anything else. 1/https://twitter.com/ChildrensHD/status/1199011048851939328 …

No problem, though!
@RobertKennedyJr, like every other antivaxer wedded to one cause, be they mercury militia or Wakefield followers who think its' MMR über alles causing autism, they glide easily to a different pseudoscientific notion as to how vaccines "cause autism." 4/Show this thread -
The reason is simple. To antivaxers, it's about the vaccines, always and forever and nothing else, except maybe as a secondary issue (e.g., pollution, GMOs, etc.). To them, vaccines are evil, ineffective, and harmful, always and forever, Amen. 5/5

Thimerosal was removed from all childhood vaccines in 2001 with the exception of inactivated flu vaccine in multi-dose vials.http://www.dph.illinois.gov/topics-services/prevention-wellness/immunization/thimerosal-vaccines-q-a …
