Yogurt thread: 1/4 For the record, I am not making any claims about the efficacy of yogurt for vaginal yeast. The small randomized controlled trial I cited in @sciam has been the focus of criticism.

2/4 I cited it only to show there is research evidence out there (that study among others)--not to prove anything. It turns out the journal may be sketchy, though I imagine there might have been some barriers to English-language publication for the Iranian midwives who led it.

3/4 Is there any research evidence that yogurt causes harm? (or jade eggs or vaginal steam or a cucumber cleanse or...) I haven't seen
@DrJenGunter present any yet she has made definitive judgements of various home remedies and the people who use them.20 replies 0 retweets 12 likesShow this thread -
4/4 My point is that the absence of science suggesting a benefit doesn't negate individual positive experiences. And there has to be context of risk. It’s yogurt. It’s water vapor.
@DrJenGunter is OK with glyphosate. I'll keep tea tree oil (and take note of the case reports).33 replies 2 retweets 34 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @writingblock @DrJenGunter
Congratulations. You managed to mansplain in the name of feminism. There is a lot of potential harm from putting yogurt in your vagina. It's water vapour?? Are you serious?? That's like saying fire is just air. GLYPHOSATE RESIDUE HAS NEVER BEEN SHOWN TO BE REMOTELY DANGEROUS.

Toxicologist here. Confirming what
@maie_lynn said. Glyphosate has never been demonstrated to have any clinical effects on humans after decades of intensive study. And sad I have to say this, but obviously yogurt isn’t just water vapor.7 replies 9 retweets 128 likes
I think she was referring to vaginal steaming.
