I don’t know David. They’ve only had a few thousand years to study acupuncture. Let’s be patient and see where this goes.

I find myself wondering, what is the control group for the study... having some one totally randomly insert small gauge needles while muttering indistinctly about meridians and power lines?

One control is to insert needles in “non-acupuncture” locations. Another involves retractable sham needles that don’t actually penetrate the skin but that neither patient nor acupuncturist can tell if the needle has penetrated the skin.
