I don't think Scott Pruitt hates my kids either. But if his actions amount to an attempt to shorten their lives, I don't particularly care about his feelings. Just his actions.

That’s fair, and it’s a different thing. I think we should act to curb the harm antivaccine efforts cause. But I think misunderstanding their motives doesn’t help, and demonizing them unfairly is wrong.

I think quite a few of them think they’re helping our children, since they believe vaccines don’t work and are harmful. Their facts are wrong, but for a substantial portion the intent is good. (For others, not so).

but I do feel in some cases autism is caused by parents who mistreat their children or make one child a scapegoat and this causes the child to be nervous around them because of their own mistreatment so blame the child and therapists tell the parent what they want to hear.

Antivaxers are like the folks who send their kids to charter schools and demand vouchers so they can defray tuition costs for private and religious school tuition: they don’t care one bit for “our children”—they care only about their own. It’s an absence of empathy.

There is a long history to the antivax movement. Some of the earliest arguments were that vaccination contravened the will of God, it prevented the process of natural selection or was a government plot. Maybe current ideas not that far removedhttps://www.citylab.com/life/2019/04/anti-vaxxer-history-new-york-measles-mandatory-vaccination/586969/ …

Mandatory vaccination is definitely not the answer. It'll just further destroy trust in vaccines.https://medium.com/the-spiritual-anthropologist/we-need-to-treat-antivax-sentiment-like-a-disease-4560dc5a9f30 …
