So some additional thoughts on the #thevieevent, an antivaccine confab held on the Mall in Washington, DC yesterday to protest the anniversary of the passage of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986. 1/ #VIEeventhttps://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/11/15/vaccine-injury-epidemic-vie-antivaxers/ …

If
#theVIEevent wasn’t antivaccine, why did so many of the speakers compare our system of vaccine mandates to the atrocities of Nazi Germany? James Lyons-Weiler basically compared vaccine mandates to the requirement that Nazi citizens buy a copy of Mein Kampf! 5/#VIEeventShow this thread -
Never mind how ahistorical that claim is. German citizens weren’t required by the Nazi regime to purchase Mein Kampf. Sure, there was peer pressure, but the regime also gave the book away to newlyweds and soldiers. 6/

Of course, seeing “Dr. Bob” Sears weep with guilt in his
#theVIEevent speech over his past role in causing injury to children through indiscriminate vaccination before he saw the light was the most antivax thing I’ve seen in years.#VIEevent 7/Show this thread -
I mean, why would you weep with guilt over your past role in “indiscriminately" vaccinating children if you weren’t antivaccine?

No,
#theVIEevent was antivaccine AF. Every speaker was antivaccine, some (like@delbigtree and James Lyons-Weiler) over-the-top histrionically antivaccine.#VIEevent 9/Show this thread -
Fortunately, the turnout was pretty pathetic. At most it looked like maybe 250 people at
#theVIEevent , and I think that’s probably a generous estimate.#VIEevent 10/10Show this thread
