Sears and Palevsky aren’t on the AAP member directory. There are ongoing discussions about how to handle other cases like the third one you mentioned

I can’t speak to enforcement of AAP membership standards, but I tried to add on a Council membership last week & this came up, which is the first time I can recall seeing anything from the AAP about suspension or revocation. I suspect though that passed Boards & paid fees=memberpic.twitter.com/3BxRxWt7zO

That's super interesting Nusheen. Per AAP policy and procedures manual, the Board has discretion in addressing member conduct including "suspend, or otherwise restrict the membership of any AAP member". It's kinda vague. I'll email you something

And I find
@AAPPres statement to be particularly relevant: "There is too much at stake right now not to speak out when people in positions of power and influence spread misinformation...."1 reply 1 retweet 9 likes -

Disingenuous. The word you’re looking for is disingenuous.

Well I wouldn’t use disingenuous - I know Kyle and he’s very sincere. I know that it’s hard for AAP leadership to be the “bad guy”, so to speak, wrt to a member. And we really don’t want Gordon et al to be hailed as martyrs.

I would. It’s not as though this issue hasn’t been bright up many years before.

I don’t think it’s necessary to get personal. We can and should continue to speak up about vaccine safety, inc lobbying for better laws, but remember who’s been on the frontline for decades fighting this fight in the clinic, community & nation.

You mean like me and my fellow provax activists?

All of us, including almost all pediatricians. We have one-on-one conversations with scared, worried, hesitant, resistant even angry parents multiple times every day plus in our spare time we advocate on multiple other levels, so yes, we’ve all been here too as provax activists

That’s good. That’s right. However, it doesn’t explain AAP’s tolerance of antivax pediatricians in its midst.

While there are issues I’d like the AAP to take a stronger stance on, I wouldn’t call characterize this as tolerance. Multiple AAP spokespeople have consistently called out vaccine misinformation. I’ll agree to disagree, but would refrain from disrespectful attribution of intent

That’s nice. Without actual policy teeth, sadly it’s meaningless.
