So it appears that a certain Very Eminent Rising Star in Oncology (VERSO) is still dropping snide comments about how countering alt med and antivaccine pseudoscience is a worthless waste of time and too easy to be worth the effort of his massive brain and talents. 1/

VERSO is also gloating that three days after the original kerfuffle he's still seeing outraged Tweets in his mentions taking him to task for his dismissal of the value of countering alt med misinformation and how that tells him he must have scored a direct hit. 2/

I mean, three days in and he’s retweeting and commenting too. Is smugness less indicative of being wrong than anger? I forget how their pyramid of evidence looks.

I see he's also insinuating that he's also going to talk about the issue on his podcast next week. Oh, goody

Actually, it might be interesting to see if he can make a case that goes beyond "debunking alt med is easy and a waste of time" and "what I do is sooooo much harder and more worthwhile.” I sincerely doubt that he can. I don't know if I can stand the smugness, though.

What really irks me is his dismissal of the harm done by alt med, even quack cancer cures. I've taken care of several patients over the years who treated their breast cancers with naturopathy or other quackery, only to come in with nasty, fungating cancers that have metastasized.

In any case, it's funny. I don't respond to him or subtweet him any more. I do still respond in some of the ongoing threads that he's included in, but not about him. He's still ranting on sarcastically, and OUR anger must mean he's right?
