Of course, using diet and weight loss as an initial treatment for type II diabetes is not alternative medicine. It's literally part of the ADA guidelines for the initial treatment of the disease, and primary care docs use this strategy a lot.

THEN I thought - hand washing, while somewhat helpful, isn't all that effective to prevent colds & worse & what she really needs to add to her regimen to prevent getting sick is a *flu vaccine*. And yeah, hand washing probably won't hurt unless you get into OCD territory.
