The first @vaxxedthemovie was pure antivax propaganda disguised as a documentary. It was so blatant and manipulative that it works make Leni Riefenstahl, were she alive, blush and say, "Too much!"https://twitter.com/PeterHotez/status/1189862424796684288 …

I agree, it also showed such hate and disgust for people on the
#autism spectrum - another major tenet of the#antivax lobby. I would imagine the sequel won't be any better5 replies 2 retweets 26 likes -

From the description in the article it sounds even worse than the first film, with lots of exploitative shots of low functioning children with severe autism. It sounds like what I sometimes call antivax autism porn.

What do I mean by "antivax autism porn"? It's often found in antivax propaganda: Intentionally exploitative shots of severely autistic children exhibiting their most difficult to deal with behaviors. Antivax autism porn is designed to evoke horror at autism in the viewer.

You’re close. It’s meant to induce fear of what they perceive to be vaccine injured severely autistic children. Regardless of the actual underlying cause.

Yes, the purpose of invoking horror is to invoke fear as well. I thought that was implicit in what I said.

It may have been for some. It seemed some of the responses tried to paint you as being unsympathetic to the child’s condition as opposed to having a different opinion on cause.

Well, yes. Antivaxers are freaking out over the term "antivax autism porn." One even tagged the FBI, as though to imply that my use of the term indicated that I was involved in human trafficking or something.

Here's the thing. I'm very sympathetic to the difficulties parents face raising a special needs child. I've said more times than I can remember that I don't know if I ever had what it takes to do it. I even understand how they can misattribute the cause.

However, if you've ever watched antivaccine propaganda movies, you'll rapidly see how they show shots of autistic children acting out in order to portray autism in as ugly a light as possible.

Sometimes this use of imagery of the autistic by antivaxers to invoke revulsion, horror, and fear is truly horrific. Sometimes it's used to condone the murder of autistics.https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/sharyl-attkisson-promoting-wakefields-narrative-about-murder-alex-spourdalakis/ …
