Twitter publicity is free publicity. This kind of visibility can boost sales (or future sales) and launch one into a global expert status, two things every author dreams of.

Absolutely. And I think Dr Prasad's original point is valid that retweeting pseudoscience may actually amplify it. However, I think he was intentionally concern trolling and being dismissive just to generate controversy.

By the end he was definitely trolling. Repeating "feel free to ignore me" is a classic troll move, and by the end he Wed doing just that.

Agreed. He was also using juvenile internet arguing tactics (which I couldn't resist partaking in--more dunking analogies please!) and trying to present his obtuse commentary as "feedback." Really hope that's not how he gives trainees feedback.

Long before he was even a doctor, too, actually, much less a rising star in oncology. He was still in college when I started my blog and still in medical school when SBM was launched.
