People keep tagging me on tweets about a Scientific American article that takes issue with skeptics. If you don’t get the real harm so called wellness with its love of medical conspiracy theories, you haven’t read enough on it 1/2

If you think the only thing I write about is GOOP then you have only bothered to read about 5% (maybe less) of my body of work. So there’s that. 2/2

I realize in retrospect that I inadvertently accepted the frame that what we do is not as valuable as what Dr. Prasad does when I repeatedly pointed out that deconstructing quackery and antivax is not all I do.

I should've just said, "So what? Educating about and combatting medical pseudoscience are every bit as important as holding big pharma to account and pointing out lack of evidence for some conventional treatments." Oh, well. Learn from your mistakes.

Lesson: Whenever possible, don't argue within your critic's framing of the issue being discussed. Doing so implicitly accepts their frame as the correct one. Point out the frame and reject it.

I should have said: Point out the frame and reject it whenever possible and appropriate.

Are they now? I haven't looked since last night, when ANTI-GMO heck journalist Paul Thacker was congratulating Dr. Prasad, who was basking in the praise. Truth be told, I hadn't planned on looking at his feed again any time soon, but damn if someone didn't DM me about it.
