The conclusion of a bit of a Twitter lecture in which I was repeatedly told I'm too nasty and sarcastic countering alt med and antivax misinformation and that that's nowhere near as worthwhile or difficult as what he does anyway.

Asking for concrete suggestions when he criticized the way you did debunking isn’t seeking validation. It’s opening a substantive dialogue. We still have not seen any concrete suggestions, right?

True, but I can see how he might have interpreted my mistake of responding within his frame that way.

What do I mean? Specifically, I shouldn't have kept pointing so vociferously that I do discuss and criticize conventional medical practices as well. It implied that I bought into his frame that doing that has more inherent. value than deconstructing alt med and antivax.

What I should have said is, "So what?" Countering the claims of quacks and antivaxers and resisting the infiltration of pseudoscience into conventional medicine are just as important as holding pharma to account and highlighting lack of evidence for some conventional treatments.

For what it's worth, I also find your discussion of medical practices - like the use of mammograms and other areas you explained in a nuanced but accessible fashion - really helpful. I understand that's not your point here.

Also not his point but worth mentioning that we are, most of us, capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time. Where does he get this false dichotomy that you can only do one thing? And that it must be HIS thing that you choose or you're wrong?

Well, it's *obviously* because his thing is so much more important and challenging than my thing, if course! He kept telling us so!
