I don’t think anyone makes a career out of arguing w alternative medicine practitioners on twitter. That could only be called a hobby, if that. But it’s also not ethical to see something patently false & ignore it, IMO.

I'm not aware of anyone who's made a career of it, although it can be a hobby that makes a little side money for some. But I'm not very clever financially. I pay for hosting and Cloudflare. don't make a penny off of my personal blog, and edit @ScienceBasedMed as a volunteer.

Dr. Prasad is basically reminding me more and more of John Horgan, and not in a good way. The main difference is that he doesn't bring in world peace, but it's the same "soft targets"=what you care about/"hard targets"=what I care about dichotomy. https://respectfulinsolence.com/2016/05/18/john-horgan-is-skeptical-of-skeptics-or-homeopathy-and-bigfoot-versus-the-quest-for-world-peace/ …

Here's an email I got from a daughter of a patient, rendered paraplegic by NMO. Yes, countering the misinformation she received is trivially easy when speaking to doctors. But it's hard to do with patients. Am I supposed to think that doing so is a waste of time?pic.twitter.com/0SSIqAg2Jt

Perhaps it is to 'think bigger' than just changing one person's mind through patient interaction, or internet action. Natural-health products are definitely lobbying to codify their existence as regulated health professionals and legitimizing their products via health boards.

And we are doing that, through participating in efforts to lobby state and federal government and providing expert resources to groups doing the lobbying. We can walk and chew gum at this same time.🙄

I'm sure some people are - even then there are usually consultation from stakeholders. I can't speak for Vijay, but sometimes I think some professionals only go after the low-hanging fruits, iirc, regarding the peculiar H20 fad.

Pretty big supposition to think you know intimately what all medical professionals on Twitter are doing when they’re not on Twitter
