Agree 100%. So many 'debunkers' making a career out of it, when it only serves to spread the original fantastical claims.

Do you have any evidence of that, or are you just salty from being dunked on by skeptical thinkers?https://respectfulinsolence.com/2018/05/30/an-unholy-combination-of-methodolatry-and-quackery-apologia-with-jade-eggs/ …

Debunking alt med may be easy. Doing so effectively is not. Most debunkers of alt med also do a good job of holding conventional med to task as well. There’s a need for both. Agree that Streisand effect is possible with debunking.

Ill also add that learning how to debunk alt med has made me much better at recognizing spurious claims by big pharma (though I am far from the best at it.). Critics thinking is important all around.

You obviously haven't been doxxed properly yet. You stay cooped up in your ivory tower looking down on ppl in the trenches eh? Well, when you can get your hands dirty, then you can have a valid opinion

Paul offit has received death threats. Richard pan was physically attacked. Though maybe a bit different, some docs who perform abortions have been killed. I can see why some doctors might want to advocate for science anonymously.

Anyone who's been at this a while has had death threats. I've been sued, and have had more threats to sue than I can remember. Antivaxers have tried to get me fired by deluging my dept. chair, cancer center director, and university board of governors with claims of a bogus COI.

I'm afraid that Dr. Prasad, in his ivory tower, is utterly oblivious to the facts on the ground and how the reality of doxxing, harassment, and worse might lead a doctor or other health care professional adopt a pseudonym for social media advocacy.

Also true. Patients are not immune. In the case of antivaxes, parents who've lost a child to vaccine-preventable disease and advocate for vaccines as a result are particular targets for scorn.
