Indeed. I've never understood why so many doctors are so hostile to the term "provider." They're often doctors of a certain political bent, too.https://twitter.com/mizmoose/status/1188804604642902019 …

goddang, some MDs are precious snowflakes about their degree, worse than newly minted Ph.D.s. The BEST doctor I ever had said to call her by her first name. "I know I'm a Dr and I'm not so shallow that I need to be reminded of it every 5 minutes." (that wasn't why she was best)

*snort* if they think provider is bad, the Ancient Greek nomenclature will blow their tiny minds

Often they are doctors who think their degree imbues them with magical powers of knowing everything about everything...

True that. They also are often the kind of doctor who tout direct primary care as a cure-all for the health care system or run concierge practices.

I don’t use MD anywhere outside of work, and wish that staff would call me by my 1st name. But “provider” is the corporate way of making us all worker bees on their cog. That’s why I have issues with it. Patients can cal me what they please.

After reading the essay about the claim that that meaning of "provider" was invented by the Nazis to downgrade Jewish doctors, I have a theory: projection. Could it be that some dr. are feeling guilt about selling out to the day-to-day necessities of making a living?
