Only if you define "winning" as talking up so much time repeating the same misinformation, tropes, and pseudoscience that the pediatrician throws up her hands and gives up in frustration.😏 https://twitter.com/DavidHarrisPA/status/1187964979158253569 …pic.twitter.com/HMUjZXfbHI

My son’s pediatrician told us up front that he will not accept patients who refuse vaccinations. One of the many reasons we selected him.

No, you can't win a debate by forfeiting.

You also can't win a debate against pseudoscience, because believers in pseudoscience aren't bound by science and facts and what science and facts they do use are carefully cherry picked. It's not an even playing field.

“The average member of the flat earth society would win a debate against an astronomy professor.” Possible. Unless familiar with their tropes, the expert has to get over the shock that someone said that and explain the issues - hard on the spot. The Earth is still round, though.

Does speak to the ongoing challenge that @thereal_truther has mentioned: the best story teller can often “win the day” in spite of the evidence. E.g it’s how populists get elected.

I mean. Just read that tweet. Multi-layered platitudes on top of opinion resting on a cloud of zero substance. No real objective other than to entrench. Disappointed that u even gave him small victory war of attrition/frustration😋. Sers, Thanks 4 fighting every dumb-ass tweet.

The old gish gallop. I certainly react that way to the first hint of conspiracy theory - I can't be arsed and can only roll my eyes.
