What is the salutary benefit of not using disrespectful language, exactly? On what moral basis do you make this request/ demand?

On the moral basis that patients are human beings who deserve the respect of their providers, that providers should have the humility to understand that the patient who presents to the ED once a week or every day has a life full of challenges that most of us could never imagine.

Respect is earned. The doctor-patient relationship is the foundation. This requires respect on both sides. “Deserving” something because someone is human is not a moral argument in itself.

Precisely, words have meanings, and I make conclusions about people based on their words and deeds.

deeds >>>> words, but words do have meaning, and, as one of the commenters whom i disagree with said, 'bedside manner is at the bed-side.' this is twitter. drawing conclusions here is done at peril. you have not seen my deeds. you have misinterpreted my words.
