This glass-back phone trend needs to die.

I increasingly hate iPhones. Sacrilege but true. I hate the infinitesimally small improvements, the forced obsolescence, and the emphasis on “design” that neglects to consider basic realities about how people use a device they pick up 30x a day.

I cracked the front glass and had it replaced two weeks ago. They nuked the whole phone to do it, which was an unwelcome surprise because I needed 2FA to access info to even do a trade in. Had to go home and restore. Now I’ve cracked the back.
I don’t even WANT a new one.6 replies 0 retweets 11 likesShow this thread -

Saw some vids on the 11 Pro and how strong the front and back glass is. Seems promising…that is, unless you’re already on an 11 Pro.

No I was going to trade the 8 for one - because the battery is done and it’s very slow now - but this latest slip just knocked $150 off the trade in value and I’m just tired of the whole company.

Many, if not most, Android phones are going the same way. You can't use metal backs and still have wireless charging, and plastic feels too low rent (and can break too); so most companies are using glass.

If anything, the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro show a move more towards practicality over asthetics. They're a little heavier and thicker than previous models, allowing for a larger battery and noticeably longer battery life, for example.
