The Italian antivaccine group Corvelva published a really bad "scientific report" claiming fetal DNA in vaccines is dangerous based on a dubious next generation sequencing analysis whose methods are not described. It's not. https://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/10/09/corvelva/ …pic.twitter.com/R4huGB3mPX

Maybe @StevenSalzberg1 would like to weigh in on this NGS "study." I know enough to know that the amount of DNA is inconsequential, but not enough to say a lot about the methods, ornery than the lack of description.

Thx. I'm no genomics or NGS expert.

OK, now you've made me read their so-called "study." They apparently paid a sequencing company to sequence the DNA in 3 samples that they sent in, and got back a totally standard report listing SNPs, indels, genome coverage, etc. Nothing at all damning here, and (1/2)

... (2/2) and the study contains this quote from the FDA: "For widely used human diploid cell strains, such as MRC-5 and WI-38 cells, measurement of residual DNA might be unnecessary because we do not consider residual DNA from these human diploid cells to be a safety issue."

... so this is a complete non-issue. They have invented a risk out of whole cloth, not surprisingly (3/2).
