It's BECAUSE we care about our patients' health that we don't want to "collaborate" with their naturopath/homeopath/reflexologist/iridologist/astrologer.https://twitter.com/DrPChouinard/status/1180543598196133889 …

‘If doctors don’t collaborate with my naturopath/homeopath/reflexologist/iridologist/astrologer, they don’t care about my health’ is so 2019 white privilege it hurts.

Meh. My PC docs, for YEARS, "diagnosed" asthma & prescribed $80 albuterol, refusing to believe it wasn't helping & shrugging at how often I got bronchitis. My naturopath diagnosed a casein allergy. Massive health improvement. Why wouldn't you want to work with that person?

I blame the 7-minutes-per-patient system more than the individual PC docs, but if a naturopath can take the time to find the dietary cause of chronic inflammation, they're a better collaborator in my healthcare than a doc who can only prescribe steroids to treat the symptoms.

If my doctor had to confer with his astrologist, I'd be out of there in an instant.

You need to be pro science, not just pro medicine. And it's menopause.

A well-established duty to the patient. In 1861, a surgeon writing in the British Medical Journal wanted to know why Mr. Fergusson was "consorting with quackery" by developing a relationship with a homeopath. @DrPChouinardpic.twitter.com/LElwGY2boS

If my doctor starts to treat me with herbs and nuts, I get a new doctor.

I don't know. Speaking as an #MECFS patient, Dr's seem to "collaborate" with psychiatric quacks quite a bit when it suits their genderbias against female patients. It's going to be a show watching Dr. Ron Davis put a Nanoneedle through that "gods of the gaps" thinking.

Placebo is not an unknown, or minuscule thing. However imo belongs within the realm of mental health therapies, not science. Besides Many CPP Drs have not many options available for treatment. If a physician believes it's worth a try, then sure, but it isn't for all
