The generally accepted population attributable risk that I've seen is ~60% of smokers die due to smoking-related illness. It's complex because the definition of "smoking-related" can vary quite a bit

It's anecdotal, but a number of my friends quit smoking because of vaping. I guess the question then becomes, "did they ever quit vaping?"

The reduction in tax receipts is good evidence that people are buying fewer cigarettes. From there to "helped millions quit smoking" lies a vast uncharted wilderness of unexplored data. A good argument for taxing vape the same as cigs, so we can get the data.
