Unless it's special circumstances (e.g. trying to get a 4-year old to sleep) it's rude IMO for aisle/middle passengers to ask the window passenger what to do with the shade. I only say something if (a) sun is blinding me, or (b) if we are taking off or landing and the shade is down. FAA requires it up.

I did not know that. I'll use that in the future during landings. I get kind of anxious if the shade's down during landing and I can't see outside. It's my second most annoying thing about flying outside of the lack of legroom.
