My wife let her hair go gray a couple of years ago. I was skeptical, due to, I hate to admit, what in retrospect I realize to have been sexist and ageist fears about how she'd look. I was wrong, and she looks great now. She's happier, too. No more worrying about roots.https://twitter.com/andreapitzer/status/1172563470476296198 …

All right--I shot my mouth off on Twitter earlier this week advocating gray hair for everyone who wants it. And it went baby viral. So I'm going on Montreal radio shortly to talk about all this. I'll post a link when I have it.

I highly recommend going bluish silver (I’m less blue now than in my pic), which doesn’t require much maintenance as the roots come in. Also, turquoise and dark blue underlights work for the bottom, which is still mostly brown on me. Way happier now than as a blonde!

I decided at a young age that I was far too lazy to dye my hair when it eventually turned grey. Plus the commitment! The expense! As it turns out, I haven't gone grey yet apart from an occasional strand, and I'm 56 years old. Reckon it's 'cos I only wash it once a week...

At age 41, I looked in the mirror and saw some grey. I thought for a moment , then said to myself: "Screw it, it's not worth the trouble to dye it."

I started going gray when I was 16. I did consider dying it when I was in my 30's but never did.

I think it's completely reasonable for our opinion if what's beautiful to change over time. Helen Mirren is fucking gorgeous today and was gorgeous when I was a teenager. I don't think 15 year old me would have appreciated her 70's hotness and I'm not sure that's a problem.

There's also definitely a curve someplace where covering gray looks odd. If you're really grey in your 30s coloring it looks fine. Dianne Feinstein, to pick someone at random, looks odd to me with her grey covered. I'm also not sure that THIS is a problem of any note.

David it’s absolutely ridiculous that women have to dye their hair or else it’s considered that they’ve “let themselves go” (is this just a UK saying?). The current norms of women’s appearance are astonishingly artificial

No we say that too in the states, but mostly in relation to weight / general appearance. 😥
