Seems I upset some vax sci denial activists b/c I pondered what involvement (seemingly missing) Dads have in any of this. "Mom/Parent" ID common among (mostly women) protesters for this issue. Men? Not so much. At protests or online.

Insightful- did not cross my mind. Child care - a woman’s responsibility or Father’s care but don’t agree. Would like to point out that the biggest influence has been the day television talk shows - mainly for women audiences.

Indeed. Jenny McCarthy really pushed the mother's intuition beliefs angle too. Jennifer Reich gets at this and North American "intensive motherhood" culture in her work.

There's actually an asymmetry here. While roughly 80% of activist antivaxers are women (online at least), by far the most famous and quoted antivaxers, the leaders of the antivax movement if you will, are overwhelmingly male (e.g., Wakefield, RFK Jr., Bigtree, Sears, etc.).

I've often asked why that is. Why is it that most antivaxers are women, but most antivax leaders are male. It's definitely an asymmetry.

Me too. Soc thesis. For Bigtree, daytime tv producer, so that gets back to orig. post abt audience (& J. McCarthy role). Even assuming DB had sincere intents, had access to audience making most of hlth care visits, decisions. Wakefield, RFKJr. different, but can't be coincidence.
