Of course, I'm now in a privileged position. I'm a professor in the latter half of my career. Universities usually don't do anything about these sorts of complaints because it's academic freedom and, yes, free speech.

However, if I were a young academic, these sorts of complaints could cause more of a problem. If I worked for a private employer rather than a state university, such complaints could lead to my employer telling me to shut up or be fired. That's why antivaxers do this.

It could also be that they've finally realized that not only don't such complaints hurt or bother me any more, but that I now view them as a badge of honor.
