I say this realizing that women have it so much worse. My point is, @BretStephensNYT couldn't even handle the level of abuse a male quackbuster gets., much less what women handle.

What
@BretStephensNYT's reaction to@davekarpf's joke reminds me of is antivaxers. I've had antivaxers attempt to cause trouble for me at work by emailing my boss to complain about me saying mean things about them on the blog more times than I can remember dating back to 2005.1 reply 2 retweets 15 likesShow this thread -
Make no mistake. What
@BretStephensNYT did was no different than what antivaxers have been doing to me, only worse. Why worse? He's a@nytopinion columnist, and the prestige and privilege of that position make what he did so much worse than some random antivaxer emailing my dean.1 reply 5 retweets 21 likesShow this thread -
Make no mistake, by cc'ing the provost,
@BretStephensNYT was intentionally trying to make@davekarpf suffer at work for making a joke about him on Twitter. Think about how petty a man had to be to do something as vindictive as that.1 reply 4 retweets 31 likesShow this thread -
I mean, nothing against
@davekarpf, but he's just some unknown assistant professor on the Internet, while@BretStephensNYT is an opinion writer for the frikkin'@nytopinion page. If Stephens is so thin-skinned, maybe a platform at@nytimes is not for him. Ditto social media.2 replies 3 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
In any event, I'm sure we'll be seeing yet another whiny, self-pitying piece from
@BretStephensNYT about how mean people were to him on Twitter for trying to get an academic fired or disciplined for having made a joke about him on Twitter.1 reply 3 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
Again, although I'm sure
@BretStephensNYT will deny that was his intent, I know better. I've been on the receiving end of exactly the same behavior too many times. If his intent was not to get@davekarpf disciplined or at least "talked to" by his provost, he wouldn't have cc'ed.5 replies 2 retweets 19 likesShow this thread -

Replying to @Sou_HotWhopper @davekarpf and
I predict that his next column will be about how mean people on Twitter criticizing him for trying to get an assistant professor who made a mildly insulting joke about him fired forced him to close his account.

Probably. He'll be back. A conservative writer in Australia got in a huff and closed his Twitter account. I think he lasted only a couple of weeks before returning.

I have no doubt that he'll be back to whine and punch down again.
