Thinking about Hong Kong this morning. If China moves in on protesters like they did in Tienanmen Square, it will give the lie to the idea that economic engagement leads to political reform. Holy shit, I wish there weren't an ineffectual moral pissant in the White House.

It's been a self-serving lie for decades that Beijing's opening to economic reform would bring the equivalent in *political* reform. It has not. Matter of fact, their new President could legally be there until he croaks and his power will still be backed up 1/2
