That’s true, but this wasn’t a normal case. Officials and staff knew he was extremely high profile. Isn’t the indifference or incompetence here more surprising than usual?

I suspect he knew he was a dead man whether convicted or not, and he opted to do it himself rather than live in anxiety wondering 'when and how.' And I'm assuming prison personnel simply didn't care.

If it wasn't real negligence or actual malicious aid to loathsome pedo, there was bribery, whether by Epstein or someone else. If the FBI doesn't find a money trail, the fact that it was the NYC Field Office doing the investigating will not be helpful in conspiracy quashing.
