As a Chinese guy I find this a bit more ambiguous. I mean it indeed pushed the Japanese government into surrender and stopped the war. If that didn't happen there could potentially be a second Nanking Massacre.

There is some debate over whether the Japanese were going to surrender anyway, before the bombings. We'll never know the outcome for certain, so it's possible to defend the use of the atomic bomb. Defending it and celebrating it are two completely different things, however.
