I don’t want to hear any talk abt this man being insane. He posted his manifesto just 20 mins bf walking into the store, but he had driven 9hrs. He probably did it in the parking lot. He knew posting too soon would give ppl time to stop him. He’s not crazy; he’s methodical.

While I agree that blaming mental illness at this stage is counterproductive, harmful even, I would point out that being methodical and being mentally ill are not mutually exclusive. That a shooter was apparently methodical says nothing about his mental health.

Insanity is a legal term. Is is not synonymous with mentally ill. Insanity means you are incapable of judging your own actions. The classic example is someone who kills a "demon." They can't meaningfully plea, aid in their own defense, understand the charges, etc.

Either way at bottom it’s really infuriating because it’s such a shameless way dismiss all accountability re: white nationalism “hey, there’s nothing we can do about these ‘tragedies’! These lone-wolves are just crazy!”

But there is something we can do about it.If we refuse to ack these issues,we won’t be able to ID them in childhood&hopefully address disorders during formative yrs.And those diagnosed w/serious personality disorders like psychopaths, should not be permitted to possess guns.

I don’t want to understate the importance of increased gun regulation. That must be done first or concurrently. Mental health care reforms, once in place, will take much longer to make a difference. People need to be protected now through common sense gun legislation.

At the worst,if they don’t have access to the ammo or types of guns that are most deadly, it at least mitigates the damage done. Many of these shooters obtained guns legally&no one probable stopped this Texas terrorist in his way in bc it was open carry. 1/2

Yup. When security camera footage of the Walmart shooter was posted online, someone pointed out that he hadn't shot anyone yet at that point and was not breaking the law carrying his weapon.

The evidence is logical. Did you ever go to college and learn the field of “logic” in math & philosophy? Evidence of truth of the premise that the conclusion rely’s on, is the very definition of the term “logic”. That’s how logic works. The evidence is >gun laws reduce shootings.
