In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings. On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose… 500 to Medical errors 300 to the Flu 250 to Suicide 200 to Car Accidents 40 to Homicide via Handgun Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data.

And can we stop with the bullshit that medical errors are the leading cause of death? Because they are not.

I'll give him minor credit for using the IOM estimate of 90K deaths/yr from medical error instead of the ridiculously innumerate estimates of 250K to 400K (36-57% of ALL in-hospital deaths), but even that one is likely way too high.https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/are-medical-errors-really-the-third-most-common-cause-of-death-in-the-u-s-2019-edition/ …

It's definitely not "communicating" science to use a highly questionable estimate, and it's really a bad take to imply that we shouldn't be so upset over mass shootings because other thinks kill a lot more of us.
