I understand 100%. When our previous dog died of cancer 11 years ago at the too young age of 8, I was devastated. Now our current dog is almost 12, and I'm already dreading facing that loss again.https://twitter.com/GirlSquall/status/1155213630402637824 …

I think of this post, like, once a month at least. I remember the loss when it was fresh and how sad and beautiful your tribute was. Our Golden girl is 12 now and slowing down. Every day is precious.

We've had to go through this three times. No one who hasn't can get it. The only thing worse is not loving another dog despite the inevitability of doing it yet again.

I had to say goodbye to my little 18yo dachshund last summer, and it was the worst day of my life. I miss her every single day. I pre-grieved her death for so many years before that! I loved her more than life itself.

The difference between getting a new family member...complete happiness & playful times.....then losing our beloved family member....then comes the sadness of grieving where we no longer hear the birds singing. All seems so silent......
