I'll admit that I sometimes chafe at the strictness of these rules, but mandating human subjects research training is not "reeducation camps," nor is it "fascism." These rules are designed to protect human subjects from harm due to unethical experimentation.

Moreover, these are standard university sanctions for having been found to have violated regulations governing human subjects research: Mandate appropriate training and ban from human subjects research and federally-sponsored research until that training is completed.

No doubt Boghossian will sell this relatively standard response to his lapse as some sort of fascistic persecution designed to punish him for his having "exposed" academia. It's not. It's federal regulation. Most universities would have interpreted the regs the same way.

The reason nearly all universities would have acted the same is because their federal funding depends upon them enforcing the regulations governing human subjects research. If they don't enforce the rules, the feds could stop all research grants, which would be catastrophic.

Bogus
@peterboghossian whines because someone with some authority to do something about it didn't find his "Joke" funny. Bogus Boghossian you know full well any academic department could have been snookered by the same tactic. Drop the pretense of merely being academic.Thanks.
