This prof, @PsychRabble & his followers have harassed me over the past few days for saying academia is biased against black women. If this man can be this toxic on twitter imagine how harmful he can be towards WoC & minorities. I hope @RutgersU know this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Jussim pic.twitter.com/7Ala2QwDA7

I had to go dig up the original thread on this. https://twitter.com/PsychRabble/status/1151932057217454080 … I haven't seen the tweets between then and now, but I really stand against what I call "original sin" racism: seeing people as guilty as members of racial groups rather than treating them as individuals.pic.twitter.com/y2LGJSpeOv

Nope - rather than mischaracterize it as “guilt” and “slurs”, @SkepticReview89 and her defenders ought to recognize her privilege. She worked hard, but to think she didn’t benefit from her whiteness is absurd at this point. Everyone going after @Abebab is avoiding that fact.

Exactly. Each and every one of us benefits from our whiteness, whether we realize or acknowledge it or not. That doesn't mean we won't have struggles, but being white (and especially male) is, as @scalzi put it, the lowest difficulty setting in life. http://whatever.scalzi.com/2012/05/15/straight-white-male-the-lowest-difficulty-setting-there-is/ …

Overgeneralizations R the principal errors of any racist. We can move away from all of it. Different people in different contexts face different challenges, even if a given group might on average have it easier. Averages don't define individual experience.

There isn't some magical underlying privilege that applies to every situation of every person in majority groups. That's true even if on average such groups have it easier.
