My grandfather died of polio related complications. But I just found out his brother died young of a flu that was sweeping the country. The year was 1919. We know what the flu was. My family is a litany of tragedy, & the reason we should be so grateful for vaccines.

not true. Mid-20th C Polio outbreaks were due to BETTER sanitation. Also funny how transformative improvements in hygiene keep happening every time a new vaccine is introduced
