We should do a podcast episode on social justice @sbkaufman instead of trying to sort out complex ethical issues in a handful of tweets. I wrote a 500-page book on morality that is difficult to summarize in a few hundred characters. Invite a SJW too & let's do a deep dive.

That’s a good point, David. Something that irks me about these discussions is the denigration of good faith humans interested in creating more social justice in the world and helping society’s most deprived citizens.

Or, it's a quick and concise way to describe an ideology.

Michael Shermer wrote one good book 20 years or so ago (why people believe weird things) and has been either repeating himself or going off the rails ever since. SKEPTIC is not the magazine it used to be.

Yet these very people are quick to throw around sexist, racist, transphobic, islamophobic, bigot, nazi & any other number of terms for *merely* disagreeing with their hyperbolic rhetoric. Perhaps when THEY understand what being respectful is, they deserve it in return

SJW is an old term. It was used to imply overreach, but not necessarily to disparage. Today it is definitively a term of disparagement, but Shermer has been using it for a long time. I dont use it *anymore* for fear that I will be lumped in with Peterson et al. No thank you.
