As a result the older generation of @TheDemocrats thinks it's possible to go back to such a time. Young politicians either don't or don't see the point in trying, given how buffoonish the @GOP of today has always been from their perspectives.

I used to disagree with the GOP. I used to dislike the GOP. I did not think they were stupid or crazy. Just wrong. Until now I hadn't thought they were bat shit insane idiots dragging us into full blown Fascism out of a sense of party loyalty and personal profit over country.
