One important point: People seem to be most outraged because she is smiling. However, people are trained to smile when asked to pose for a photo. Her smiling does not mean what these outraged people seem to think it does.

Things that make me "really sad" are rarely the same things I sit there LMFAOing at. She deserves at least some blame for this.

I would disagree. I would say that the reporter who took the picture does, for not making the context clear right off the bat. People are trained to smile when asked to pose for a photo. Reading anything into a smile like that without context is perilous.

Thank goodness someone got a video interview. No one would have believed this was a protest against Trump’s policies had she tried to explain later. Gives me a lot of food for thought in relation to other still images we’ve reacted to with outrage. I find this so worrying.

Her affect and the casual cruelty depicted on the sign are indistinguishable from a Trump rally. The doxing is wrong, but this is not how you protest.
-
"Not how you protest"? Umm, allowing only protests that make you feel comfortable is the antithesis of what protest is.

These particular “reporters” have started to establish a certain track record. Of the hundreds of signs to pick from, they picked this one, posted it, and then waited 5 hours to clarify it.
-
They are also the ones that hype certain rallies as “Charlottesville 2.0”, arrive to said rallies days in advance and post recon on their twitter of the security perimeters. They are propagandists looking to insight situations for the purpose of selling footage. Ignore them.
