I worry about this constantly and try and reflect on my thinking. Could I be caught in an echo chamber? Then I find myself falling into both sidesism and find that more chilling. I truly inderstand 30s Germany now. Its like watching a slow motion trainwreck with people denying it

The problem with the 30's Germany analogy is that between the Nazis, Hugenberg's Nationalists and a thoroughly Stalinist KPD everybody else got drowned out, including the Social Democrats. We haven't gotten to that point - yet - but there are times I wonder not "if" but "when".

It's not an age-based thing, IMO. Some loons started out young and never quit being loons (Ken Ham, S. Burzynski, etc.); the most difficult thing is to be self-critical without being paralyzed with self-doubt, and with that comes the realization that making a mistake (1/2)

Isn't the end of the world - or that you should *embrace* that mistake after it's been pointed out, either. In a strange way, it's like being a successful stand-up comedian; they don't let jokes that bomb paralyze them, and they don't let hecklers derail them either. (2/2)
