Interesting. My son had Lyme disease in the UK and it was hard to convince the GP, despite the tick bite and circular rash. They offered 3 days of antibiotics and I pushed hard for 14 days. I always assumed it he hadn't been treated, he'd have been long term sick. Is that untrue?

from what I understand, infections without adequate (or any) treatment often result in neurological problems and later arthritis, but I don't think that's the bacterium directly, more like it's causing autoimmune reactions...?

I have to disagree with you. As a practitioner myself I have to say I still have symptoms a year after treating. here I am a year later and still don’t feel like myself. Also I use to be the first one to roll my eyes at patients with vague complaints
