Things have gotten real damn embarrassing for you when your twitter feed reads like Dinesh D'Souza, Michael. You should be ashamed of your ignorance of history here. Shocking how moronic this take is.

I used to be a big fan of Shermer but he’s lost the plot. The cringe-inducing IDW identity has gone to his head.

I'd been trying and trying not to admit to myself that whatever vestige of a decent skeptic Shermer was is now gone. His books from 10-20 years ado taught me so much! But here we are.

@gorskon How exactly is he no longer a decent skeptic? Do you have any evidence that he is not being skeptical? Surely skeptics can have a range of political opinions, as long as they employ critical thinking and are attempting to base their views on facts and evidence..2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

He's parroting revisionist history bullshit that the Nazis were socialist and left wing rather than fascist, the same sort of dreck promoted by Jonah Goldberg & Dinesh D'Souza. It's a massive enough distortion of history that it should be treated as a lie. That's not skepticism.

To see a man who once upon a time wrote a seminal work on debunking the pseudohistory of Holocaust denial embrace Dinesh D'Souza and Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" pseudohistory is profoundly depressing.

It's as if becoming a member of the "intellectual dark web" has rotted his critical thinking skills. Sure, he used to be a bit of a climate science denialist, but he eventually admitted he was wrong and accepted the science. Now he's going backwards in another area.

Dr Gorski, you still haven't given any examples or evidence of him not being a good skeptic. All I'm seeing is ad hominems and guilt by association

Dan, he literally said nazism is a left wing ideology because the nazi party is called “national socialist”, when that was done specifically to confuse communist voters. Where is his skepticism around the Nazi party’s own claims?

It also ignores how the Nazis ultimately purged all socialist elements and became fascist.
