I don't know why but I'm watching "Soylent Green." One interesting thing about the movie, which was made in 1973. It features human-caused global warming due to the greenhouse effect. as part of the reason, in addition to massive overpopulation, for the horrible conditions shown.

But, listening to climate science deniers, you'd think that the primary belief was that there would be global cooling. Yet, in popular culture, global warming due to greenhouse gases was featured in an early 1970s movie with Charlton Heston.

As an aside, I've always had a soft spot for early 1970s dystopian science fiction with Charlton Heston, such as "Soylent Green" and "The Omega Man."

Two of my favorite movies. Loved seeing Edward G. Robinson is his last role.

The Omega Man is a classic. Post-apocalyptic LA and Matthias the villain.

I loved these films along with the 1968 Planet of the Apes film. He was so cynical and world-weary in them. I’ve read that Soylent Green utilized left over sets from an abandoned attempt at “Logan’s Run”, which was later resumed on a lower budget.
