Irritation of the day: Due to my recent surgery and medical leave happening at the same time as my favorite meetings, most of which are in the spring and the next meeting not until FY2020, I found I had some money left in my academic fund. That's not the irritation. This is. 1/
In this day and age, most applications are platform-independent. We should be able to use the OS we want. As far as the Mac goes, it runs Windows too, either through Bootcamp or am emulator.

But is that why there's a no Mac edict? Not sure what size org you work at--if it's IT or cost or???. I freely admit I wanted PCs because of familiarity, and was freaked out every time I had to eject a disk with the garbage can icon.

Cost is surely a factor, but IT may not be well versed in Mac security to adequately protect PHI or have the bandwidth/knowledge to support two different platforms.
