In these cases, it's not necessarily bigotry being defended, but pseudoscience and quackery.

Basically, if you say, "I disagree with that" and can't articulate a reasonable argument for why you disagree, you're using it as a cop-out.

In the case of "I disagree" with LGBTQ, it's straight up a way of expressing bigotry in a way that (you think) is less likely to get you called a bigot.

If you ask them what exactly about it they don’t agree with, it all kind of falls apart. We know, they just won’t say it directly unless pressed.
