I'm on the founding team of @AHSM_org and we all knew to chat with veterans and experts in the arena prior to forming the organization. And we're actively seeking to collaborate with all healthcare professionals - those new to social media and those who've been at it for years.

Let's just say that it's a bit...irritating when you've been at something for the last 20 years, and you see a news story about new people saying they want to do the same thing who come across in the story as marching in and showing everyone how it's supposed to be done.

It's not that I'm ossified and not open to new things, but my first reaction to a story touting "drowning out medical misinformation with good information" is facepalm because we know that doesn't work very well at all.

I understand where that perception comes from, for sure. We think there's a way to bridge everyone's collective efforts together - of the dozens of healthcare profs involved, people are all tackling varied issues. Also, trust me, we learn a lot from the "grizzled veterans!"
