There are efforts to help, but doctors who want to combat misinformation on suicidal media should know that if they become effective enough they WILL be targeted for harassment. Our efforts to help are inadequate.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/03/22/chad-hermann-todd-wolynn/ …

So, I have to ask: Do you know what you're asking when you ask to recruit an army of healthcare professionals on social media? If you are effective, you WILL be harassed, particularly if you're a woman. (Antivaxers tend toward misogyny, fire instance.)

Yes. My female colleagues and I have created robust followings of their own from social media itself educate others on how to do the same. They started
@AHSM_org with me and they’re stronger than ever especially through the#dontgoviral campaign earlier this year on Instagram.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I'm not entirely convinced that you do know, to be honest. Have you or they had credible death threats, for instance? Google reputations ruined? Dozens or even hundreds of fake negative reviews of your practices? Fake reports to your medical boards? Complaints to your bosses?

If you are alluding to the fact that you’ve been through all this, sorry to hear that. Are you familiar with some of the Instagram influencers or looked at our board? I think some of them would say otherwise.

I did look at your board. I don't know any of them (although Dr. Patel looks familiar). I've heard of Dr. Swanson. That's it.

And I notice she's not on the board of directors.

Not sure I understand what you’re trying to convey in this exchange. Yes, you‘re very experienced + outspoken about the importance of EBM/facts. That’s amazing. We are all trying to work together for the sake of our patients and public health, across platforms, across issues.

I'm merely saying that I don't know anyone in the leadership of your organization, and, because of that, I'm not sure how serious they are about the combatting misinformation part of the mission. A scene from The Untouchables comes to mind. https://youtu.be/xPZ6eaL3S2E

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if your organization is serious enough about combatting misinformation and whether that's a big enough part of your missing to be a fit for me. I admit that I could be too hard core for you.

However, if you're not hard core, you're unlikely to be very successful.

I've been at this for nearly 20 years. I run two highly trafficked blogs. I've been combatting medical pseudoscience in a big way since 2014. I have a lot to offer, but I need to know it would add to what I already do.

The last I’ll say that I’m not going at this alone. I’m doing this as an organization. It’s a nascent one. We invite your expertise and insight cause it’s clearly valuable! And for the record, I’m hardcore in my own way.
