Here's another one to add to the list @CaulfieldTim (and I'm not biased just because he's another #GI doc

Unfortunately, this strategy doesn't work. We already know that. Misinformation is an unending stream, a deluge that overwhelms everyone, and there aren't enough doctors who are good on social media to counter the cranks, quacks, trolls, and bots spreading medical misinformation.

“There aren’t enough doctors who are good on social media” That’s precisely what we are trying to assist...and not just with resources and pep talks but advocacy and partnerships with institutions to incentivize social media contributions.

Yes, but you're using the knowledge deficit model of combatting misinformation. That's the wrong model. If every doctor in existence joined the fight, you could still never "drown out" all the medical misinformation with good medical information. Other strategies are needed.

The power of narrative is great, though. It's why antivax parents' and cancer quacks' anecdotes resonate. But it's not enough.

No one strategy is enough. But in fairness, misinformation and quackery hasn't flourished through one strategy alone either. We have to use them all.

No one's arguing this, but, as with so many other physician efforts in this space, I get the distinct feeling that the wheel is being reinvented. Another example...https://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/03/22/chad-hermann-todd-wolynn/ …
