Unfortunately, this strategy doesn't work. We already know that. Misinformation is an unending stream, a deluge that overwhelms everyone, and there aren't enough doctors who are good on social media to counter the cranks, quacks, trolls, and bots spreading medical misinformation.

“There aren’t enough doctors who are good on social media” That’s precisely what we are trying to assist...and not just with resources and pep talks but advocacy and partnerships with institutions to incentivize social media contributions.

Yes, but you're using the knowledge deficit model of combatting misinformation. That's the wrong model. If every doctor in existence joined the fight, you could still never "drown out" all the medical misinformation with good medical information. Other strategies are needed.

Again, that's not the vibe I got from the story. Of course, that brings up another issue, how to message the press so that it doesn't distorr the message too much.
