Fun fact: I’m not an orthopedic surgeon because I almost fainted during the hour-long video presentation of sports injuries during my med school ortho lecture... Yes, I was sitting down. Medical procedures can be unnerving. That doesn’t mean they should be outlawed.

I still can’t look at eyeball surgery and I do trauma. I was mocked mercilessly in fellowship that I couldn’t use a tonometer because I keep looking away at the last second, and if I have to do a canthotomy I wail louder than the pt. Props to @DGlaucomflecken. Eyes are gross.

Wow, me too, back when I still did trauma. I could dive into a belly full of pus and dead gut, but eyeballs freaked me out.

Nurse here, eyeballs and of all things, blackheads. I can watch videos all day but up close they are gross. Give me sputum, an abcessed belly wound and all the blood instead.

Eyeballs give me the willies. I’ll take pus any day.

Yea eye truma is pretty gross. I’ve gotten used to a lot after 6 years in emergency medicine and my threshold for being grossed out has gone way up, but eye stuff can still be the hardest to stomach. Ruptured globes are the worst.
