What if the surgery hadn't worked? What if I had a condition like one of these patients that would plague me with chronic pain for the rest of my life?

My mom has dealt with chronic pain resulting from Scleroderma complications. She has had issues with multiple pharmacies.

Good article looking at how this impacts patients. In Michigan we’ve certainly made it more challenging.

I've had the joy of going to the pharmacy and getting told that they won't fill the prescription because the medical group was setting a maximum dose based on th CDC guidelines. (Nothing about them being initial dose guidelines, and opioids requiring dose increases over time)

This is the inevitable swing of the over-reactionary pendulum. Under treat pain 2 decades ago & they sue you into bankruptcy. And now, those few that really need their pain treated can’t get the prescriptions their Dr has prescribed, regardless of how appropriate or judicious.

I hate this idea that patients should be ashamed to get effective pain relief. Does anyone get shamed going to a liquor store? No script required. All the alcohol you want. Very dangerous. Some Tylenol 4 or Vicodin and you are now a ‘legal drug user’ So sad.
